Bill B. from Maryland writes:
I recieved a new "KwikDroP" pedestal last week. The more I lifted and raised it, the easier it got. I do like the new "Hi Tech" look of the unit! I like the idea and the look and how well made it was. My conclusion, it's well made and a great idea and I liked it. I want one on the front AND on the rear of my boat, mainly for looks and ease of putting the seats down when trailering.
Wayne N. from Indiana writes:
This thing is slick. I have not fished with it yet but I tried it out on the boat in the garage about 40 times. It works just like the video, and it is just that easy, and its compact and strong. When it's folded down you have a clear view. The pedestal folded down is only 3 1/2 " tall. Feels and looks solid. I rocked back in it good and there was no give. When you lean into the seat like setting the hook the pedestal doesn't move at all. The main support in the center has gears on the end and when its raised up it flips over and locks against itself. Looking forward to getting out on lake and using it.
Sam from Indianna writes:
I too have tried the KwikDrop pedestal on the front of my boat. The thing that initially caught my eye about it was the ability to lower it before you took off to another fishin' spot. I always left the seat and pedestal in because it was too much trouble to take them out. Then I'd always find myself straining to look around the seat to make sure no one was in front of me.
When the pedestal arrived the first thing I noticed was how well it was constructed. I'm right at 300 lbs and it feels as sturdy if not more than the original pedestal that came with the boat. Learning to snap it up and then back down took only a few tries and then it was done hardly without effort. When it's in the down position the seat is about 1-1/2 to 2 inches higher than before. The quality of construction and the fact that you can leave the seat on the front and still run the lake without having to look around or over the seat is a real plus. I'm really impressed with the product and would recommend it to anyone that fishes from the front with full seat.
Roy B. from Florida writes:
Received the KwikDrop today. So far, all I can say is awesome! Great quality. I have appointed one of my friends as the director and he will be taking the pedestal and literature with him to rally for all to see. I enjoy helping out and am really going to promote this tool. I am really looking forward to the front butt seat pedestal and have a few other friends already interested as well. It is definitely cutting edge.

Dave J. from Missouri writes:
Im not what you call a HANDS-ON kinda guy. I live pretty close to the Factory and called to see if I brought my Champion up their - if they would install it for me. They said yes and away I went. When I got there - they made me install it. It was simple and just like putting in a regular Pedestal. The name KWIK fits it in more ways then one. They also guaranteed me that I would catch two times as many fish. Then they said the only catch was " that I had to fish twice as much" Im game - I hope my wife is. It does cost more than a regular pedestal, but they also reminded me - it does something that a Stick Pedestal doesnt. Its a great addition to my Champion. Thanks Guys. Dave

I just got my KwiKDrop this weekend and had the privlege of visiting their machines shop. I picked it up when I was there, so they could measure the post receiver on my Triton TR196. They said that they were having trouble with different size bushings on Tritons. These guys are always trying to perfect their product. How many companies keep doing research after they have their product on the market? ( Not as many as we would like ). I was very impressed with what I saw. They showed me some prototypes and each one just keep getting better. I have not taken it fishing yet, but have tried it out there and at home. It works like a charm, it sure will make fishing trips alot more fun with less hassle of moving the seat all the time. And my boat cover still fits perfectly, which was something that I was concerned about, but not anymore!!! Just like Wayne 1 and PT 185 ( on the Bassboatcentral FORUM BOARD) said this is a great invention. And I have to agree with everything that they said, so I won't keep repeating it. It is sturdy, it works and is well worth the price. Especially if you can see where you are going, by being lazy and not removing your seat so you can see where you are going. This way it very easy and it could save your life and maybe someone else's. This is a GREAT product, I will send another comment after I try it our on Table Rock next month. Good Luck and keep those ideas comming JIM

I contacted Orville at Kwikdrop and told him I needed a pedestal with a height of 15". He told me that the 13" was the only model in production at this. He told me they planned on both 11" and 15" sometime next year depending on market demand. He offered to let me use his 15" prototype for evaluation of the Kwikdrop concept. Although the prototype doesn't have the lock down device he would send me the unit to evaluate for the BBC. He said he wanted negative as well as positive comments. The only negative comment I have is I wish I had thought of it first. This thing is slick. I have not fished with it yet but I tried it out on the boat in the garage about 40 times. It works just like the video, and it is just that easy, and its compact and strong. When it's folded down you have a clear view. The pedestal folded down is only 3 1/2 " tall. I use a fold down seat and I had a threaded 15" pedestal and I would pull the seat up and lay it in the floor, this set up takes care of the problem. Also I have spoken with Orville several times, and he has been super nice, and seems genuinely concerned about making everyone happy with this product.

My question is how solid is it. I have only seen the pictures but by sitting in it did it feel to you as if if would get loose or wobbly as time went by????? I really like the concept..

Feels and looks solid. I thought the same thing. I weigh 245 and I rocked back in it good and there was no give. When you lean into the seat like setting the hook the pedestal doesn't move at all. The bar or square tubing in the center has gears on the end and when its raised up it flips over and locks against itself. Orville said if there is enough interest in the taller pedestal he might make them available sooner. I know I couldn't use a shorter pedestal.

Hello from a "new" "old" member. Was a member back in 2000 when my Tracker Proteam 185 was new (still listed in the owners gallery). Never was much of a poster but always did visit the site almost every day. Somehow drifted away and when the message board changed I never re-registered until now. Back then I was a first time boat owner and thankful for all the things I learned from the guys on the site.

Like Wayne1, I too have tried the KwikDrop pedestal on the front of my boat.

The pictures on the web doesn't represent how well it's constructed. I'm right at 300 lbs and it feels as sturdy if not more than the original Swivel Ease pedestal that came with the boat. Learning to snap it up and then back down took only a few tries and then it was done hardly without effort. When it's in the down position the seat is about 1-1/2 to 2 inches higher than before.

I will have to say the initial price is a bit high when compared to a normal pedestal but the quality of construction and the fact that you can leave the seat on the front and still run the lake without having to look around or over the seat is a real plus.

I'm really impressed with the product and would recommend it to anyone that fishes from the front with the sit-down seat. For someone that stands up all the time it wouldn't be of any use. I live in the central Indiana area and would welcome anyone that would be interested in seeing it or trying it out, just send me an e-mail and we'll get together.

My Review on the KwikDrop Pedestal (little long) Reply  Edit

Well, I would like to start off by saying a little about my experience with bass boats, boating and fishing in general. I have been fishing for over 40 years and I have owned more then 20 new boats including bass boats, open fisherman boats, ski boats and even speed boats. I have done many photo shoots for companies such as Baja Boats, Mercury Marine and other products. I am not boasting in any way but just wanted to say that I have been around the block a few times. I must tell you this product is absolutely fantastic. I used this product on the front of a new 2005 Gambler. I enjoy to stand while I fish as many of you do however due to a couple of severe traffic accidents my back does not like the standing for a long time, so I need to sit while I fish tournaments. One of the obvious awesome features of this product is if you are like me you have about 8-10 rods on you deck and trying to move these rods around without tangling everything just to get the pedestal back into the lockers so you can move to the next spot. This product just lets you drop it and move on. What a tremendous feature. As far as construction, the pictures do not do it justice. Very well built. After using it for about 4 hours I gave it to my partner in the back who is about 280lbs. when he sets a hook he rocks the boat. The Kwikdrop had no intentions of giving out in any way. My partner just couldn’t believe it. The problem is we are going to end up enemies fighting over who will use this system unless I purchase a second Kwikdrop.
As far as the price is concerned, I would have to say that it is relevant. It is not a product that needs to be replaced every time you go out like baits etc. We spend more then that on our rods and reels without hesitation because we use them for years to come. Well, the KwikDrop is the same thing. It will be used for years to come. The gains from this product are well worth the price. Anytime you can use a product that not only saves you time and energy, but allows you to enjoy more of the time you have on the water, the price is really no issue at all.
I have a close friend of 27 years who is the rep for the Southeast United States for several boat lines and I have contacted him with this product. I want to send it to him so he can see it and maybe take it to the owners of the boat lines he represents. That is how strongly I feel about this product. I wish I would have had this three weeks ago when he was at his dealer shows.
I highly recommend this product for anyone who sits at all while fishing and also for anyone who has a partner, child, spouse who enjoys going out with you and fishes off the back and would like to sit down in comfort while fishing. It is also nice to think about the others who may enjoy being out with us on the water.
This product is A+ and so are the people at KwikDrop.
Sorry for the long post and thank you for taking the time to read the review.

I had the Kwik Drop pedestal on display at the Eufaula Rally. I was very impressed with the quality as well as the concept.

I passes on to Orville that I would like to see a screw in base with some sort of swivel built into it. It actuallu swivels from the base now, but after incorporating a screw in base things would have to be tinkered with.

Also, lot's of input...guys really liked it, passed out some literature, and everyone is looking forward to an adjustable butt seat model.

Thanks again Orv....GREAT PRODUCT

Saw it at Eufaula and it really looks like a good concept. For me, I would like to see some sort of height adjustment cause I fish from a regular seat in the front. Also, Ranger Guys would need a larger diameter support pole than the one Roy had at the rally.

RangerBob,
There is a 1.77 adaptor for base that will fit the larger diameter post.
Roy had one but didn't have it on his boat because he didn't need it for 3/4 pin.
Having said that I'm not real sure cause I have seen some really large post on some of the newer boats.
What diameter is the post on your Ranger?

1.77" would probably fit. I just looked and with my super hi-tech ruler came up with 1.75. I'm probably off a tad.

I like this idea and I will buy one when I get some extra money. I wore myself out at Eufaula taking my seat down every time we moved the boat. I just switched from using a butt seat to using a regular seat and moving that thing each time is a pain. How long is that "special offer" you e-mailed to me good for?

Well, I certainly like mine and just got one for the rear of my boat. As soon as it stops raining here I'll install both of them correctly. The only problem I've had so far are all of the questions I have to answer at the ramps where I fish:)

I installed mine on our Triton 163 Sport. This boat uses the screw in pedestal. I had to cut off the bottom 1 inch of the base that had the nut welded on for the KwikDrop to mount properly. Not an easy job to do, working upside down half in / half out of the front storage box like that.

The KwikDrop works good.

Radiac,
We now have a 3/4 " pin that screws in to threadlock bases. The thread is relieved to go through the nut and lock the KwikDrop down while still allowing it to swivel. Nothing wrong with the way you did it, just extra work.
We are changing our website so that users with 3/4" pins can specify whether they have standard 3/4" or threadlock 3/4 " pedestals.
The KwikDrop is a totally new concept in fishing pedestals and we are working with the different base configurations on boats to make installation very easy.
Original design was for Tracker Pro 175 where below deck access is easy.
Glad to hear you're happy with the KwikDrop. Just think of all the work you saved yourself now by not having to remove that stick pedestal before running or trailering your boat!! If you decide to put one on back of boat call me!!

The new design for the screw in pedestal works GREAT! Orv sent me the new design last week. You fellas just watch this thing take off

Pass along any ideas/suggestions to Orv, he is very appreciative of the user's point of view.
